Palace supremo Iain Dowie has revealed Palace hope to sign Ivan Kaviedes before Saturday’s opening-day clash with Norwich.

The Ecuador international striker has been training with the Eagles over the last few days and has impressed the Palace staff enough to give him the chance of a permanent deal.

"It's one we'll monitor over the next period of time, it's an area we're looking at closely," Dowie told skysports.com.

"He got 30 or 40 goals for Barcelona in Ecuador last year so he's not available on a free. He's a very talented boy."
