Dutch legend Davids came out of retirement in August at the age of 37 to join the Eagles but managed just seven appearances and left earlier this week.
"It was a privilege to work with him, everybody at the club enjoyed it, he's been a world-class player and we wish him well," said Burley.
"He'd been out the game for two years, he's 37 and he also missed a month with a family bereavement.
"But it was a great experience for everyone at the club and if you asked me to do it again I would. He was on pay as you play, so he didn't cost the club anything and he wanted to come. So I didn't see anything negative at all."
