Now McAnuff wants out

Jobi McAnuff has joined the growing band of wantaway Palace stars after handing in a transfer request.

The 24-year-old winger has spent just one season at Selhurst Park, but has been heavily linked with a move to Watford over the past week.

It is believed the Hornets are readying a £1.75m bid for the former Cardiff and Wimbledon player.

McAnuff's agent Tony Finnigan confirmed the much-travelled midfielder has handed in his request.

"He has asked to leave, he has handed in his request, that I can confirm but I can't confirm whether it has been accepted or not," Finnigan told skysports.com.

"What I know is that this is purely on football, nothing to do with money at all.

"Peter Taylor completely understands as he was a footballer and so he knows what position the lad is in.

"Jobi has had seven years in The Championship and he wants to test himself at the highest level."

As well as McAnuff, Emmerson Boyce and Gabor Kiraly have also expressed a desire to leave Selhurst Park this summer.

The list of players already gone is even longer, with Andrew Johnson, Fitz Hall, Mikele Leigertwood, Aki Riihilahti, Tony Popovic and Wayne Andrews having departed.

Since only four players have come in the opposite direction, that leaves Taylor with some serious rebuilding to do with just nine days of pre-season remaining.
