Omens are good after opening day demolition job

It's not often Palace score four on their travels - and it's even rarer that it happens on the first day of a new season.

Saturday's 4-1 trouncing of sorry Southampton was the Eagles' biggest opening day win since the start of the 1968/69 season.

On 10th August 1968, Palace travelled to Cardiff and gave the valley boys a 4-0 drubbing.

That early win set the team off on a thrilling season that culminated in promotion to the top flight for the first time ever. An omen, perhaps...?
