Palace face Pool in Carling Cup

Last updated : 27 August 2004 By Nik Taylor

Palace will face Hartlepool at Selhurst Park in the second round of the Carling Cup.

The game will take place in the week beginning 20th September, so the most likely date would appear to be Tuesday 21st September with an 8.00pm kick-off.

Palace haven’t played Pool in over ten years, and the last meeting was not a happy one for the Eagles. The fans that travelled to Victoria Park for an FA Cup Third Round match in January 1993 endured a grim 1-0 defeat, and later that season saw the side relegated from the inaugural Premier League.

However, in the previous season another Second Round League Cup meeting saw us batter Hartlepool 7-2 on aggregate.
