Palace plan Inter raid

Iain Dowie could seal a transfer coup later this week, with the Palace boss hoping to sign a duo of Inter Milan stars

The Serie A side have confirmed Palace’s interest in signing defender Gonzalo Sorondo and winger Kily Gonzalez in a possible £6m deal.

"There has been telephone contact with Palace over Gonzalez and Sorondo," said an Inter spokesman.

"We expect there to be more contact after we have played our Champions League qualifying match on Tuesday."

However, Gonzalez seems cool on the possible switch, favouring instead a return to La Liga.

"I’ve heard my name mentioned in a few transfer stories but I’m an Inter player right now," said the Argentine.

"My situation here certainly isn’t easy and I would therefore happily take into consideration any interesting offers.

"If I had a choice then I would certainly be happy to return to the Spanish League if possible."

Unsurprisingly, given Palace’s habit of being gazumped in the transfer market this summer, Iain Dowie remains tight-lipped over the prospective deal.

"Our contact with Inter Milan will remain between us and Inter Milan," he told Sky Sports News.

"There’s been enough of these deals this year where we’ve been linked with teams, linked with players, and then all of a sudden other teams jump on the back of it.

"So I’m not going to comment on speculation."
