Palace v Leeds - Team news preview

Last updated : 03 March 2006 By Nik Taylor

Palace go into tomorrow’s home match against promotion rivals Leeds knowing only a win will be enough to keep alive our slim hopes of automatic promotion.

Victory could conceivably take us to within 11 points of second-placed Sheffield United with a game in hand on the Blades.

Such mathematics look likely to be academic however, and it’s far more likely Palace are playing tomorrow to consolidate our play-off spot.

Iain Dowie has been boosted by the news that both Aki Riihilahti and Marco Reich have shaken off injuries and are available to start.

Strikers Dougie Freedman and Clinton Morrison have both recovered from minor knocks and both will be hoping to partner Andrew Johnson up front.

Danny Granville made a return to reserve team football during the week, but needs a few more run-outs before he is ready for first team action.

The Eagles will be hoping to avoid the curse of the old boy tomorrow, as former player Shaun Derry returns to Selhurst Park with Leeds. Derry is available for selection once again after completing a two-match ban.

Injuries will keep out Leeds trio Frazer Richardson, Matthew Kilgallon and Richard Cresswell.

Probable Palace XI:

Kiraly
Hall Ward Popovic Boyce
McAnuff Watson Hughes Reich
