Palace v Plymouth. Match preview

Midfielder Darren Ambrose is expected to start following his switch from London rivals Charlton, while striker Freddie Sears should also feature at Selhurst Park following his loan move from West Ham.

Experienced striker Stern John could also make his Eagles bow after rejecting a new deal with Southampton to sign for Neil Warnock's side.

One player who will not play any part for Palace is former Derby defender Claude Davis, who has agreed terms with the London club but is awaiting a work permit.

The Eagles came through their pre-season campaign without any injuries, so Warnock will have a fully-fit squad to select from.

Plymouth striker Bradley Wright-Phillips will miss the clash.

Wright-Phillips - signed on a free transfer from Southampton earlier this summer - suffered a knee injury in a behind-closed-doors game and is set to be ruled out for six weeks.

It is the second injury blow for Argyle ahead of the game, as centre-back Chris Barker is sidelined with a torn calf muscle.

Wright-Phillips' place is likely to go to on-loan Blackburn forward Alan Judge - who joined Plymouth on a season-long loan earlier this week - while new centre-back Reda Johnson, signed from French club Amiens last week, is poised for his debut in the back four.

Former Palace midfielder Carl Fletcher - who joined Argyle at the start of the summer from the Eagles - is set to feature for Paul Sturrock's side.
