Palace v Reading – Team news preview

Last updated : 20 January 2006 By Nik Taylor

Palace go into tonight’s home match against runaway leaders Reading on the back of a six-game winning run. The Royals, meanwhile, are unbeaten in the league since the first day of the season.

Something’s got to give.

The good news for the Eagles is that Fitz Hall is back from suspension and Tom Soares has recovered from a hamstring twinge.

However, Tony Popovic and Mikele Leigertwood are both injury doubts and will face late fitness tests.

Aki Riihilahti continued his comeback after a long lay-off with a late sub appearance against Hull last weekend, and should get a spot on the bench again.

Long-term absentees Marco Reich, Danny Granville and Danny Butterfield continue to keep the physio busy.

Steve Coppell will make several changes to his Reading side that dumped West Brom out of the F.A. Cup on Tuesday.

A number of first teamers were rested for that game and will return against the Eagles. Marcus Hahnemann, Nicky Shorey, Glen Little, Bobby Convey and Dave Kitson are lined up to come back in, meaning cup hat-trick hero Leroy Lita could find himself back on the bench.

If you can’t get to Selhurst tonight, you can watch the game live on Sky Sports 1 from 7.45pm.

Probable Palace XI:

Hall Popovic Ward Boyce
