The midfielder missed Saturday's draw against Sheffield Wednesday as a precaution with a slight hamstring injury and should be in contention at Selhurst Park.

Striker Tomas Pekhart is still missing with a foot injury and winger Ryan Smith is recovering from a dislocated shoulder, although both are close to returning.

Winger Lee Holmes, who has been out since September with knee-ligament damage, is expected to resume light training within the next 10 days.

Skipper Michael Svensson remains on the sidelines with an Achilles problem and fellow centre-half Wayne Thomas is a long-term absentee with a knee injury.

Alan Lee is back in the Palace squad.

The striker made a late appearance as a substitute at Derby on Saturday after more than two months out with a hamstring injury and will hope to be involved again.

Right-back Danny Butterfield was also on the bench following his hamstring injury and he could start against Saints if boss Neil Warnock feels 17-year-old defender Nathaniel Clyne needs a rest.

Paul Ifill sat out at Pride Park with a knock and will be checked over prior to kick-off along with Paddy McCarthy, who suffered a broken nose.

James Scowcroft (hamstring) is close, but Lee Hills (knee), Carl Fletcher (back) and Neil Danns (ankle) are still sidelined.
