Palace stars Wayne Routledge and Gary Borrowdale both played the full 90 minutes in England Under-20s’ 1-0 win over Holland Under-20s.

The match, which took place at Huddersfield Town’s Galpharm Stadium, saw Routledge at the heart of all England’s attacking play.

He looked to have done enough to earn the home side an early lead after only 14 minutes when his astute pass to Ian Henderson drew Holland into conceding a penalty. The spot-kick, however, was hit wide.

Shortly afterward, Routledge sent a pinpoint cross onto the head of Henderson, but the striker could only hit the post.

England
took the lead through Richard Chaplow in the 60th minute and then comfortably held on for the win.

In the final minutes Borrowdale almost helped extend the lead, as his free-kick found Pat Collins in space. However, Collins headed the ball narrowly over and the game ended 1-0.
