He had spent time on loan at Plymouth and now Paul Sturrock hopes to secure him on a permanent deal.
"The chief executive and the agent are chatting to see what the story is," said Sturrock.
"Carl has shown an interest in coming to the football club, but there is still a lot of water to go under the bridge."
