Portsmouth v Palace – Team news preview

Last updated : 10 September 2004 By Nik Taylor

Palace will field a significantly different side at Fratton Park to the eleven that lost 2-1 at Middlesbrough two weeks ago.

In the intervening time, Iain Dowie has made three more signings and has also seen players return to full match fitness.

New boys Nicola Ventola, Gonzalo Sorondo and Wayne Andrews are all available for selection, with Sorondo looking to replace Danny Granville at left-back.

Neil Shipperley has recovered from injury and is back in contention for a starting spot as is Hungarian striker Sandor Torghelle, who scored for his country in midweek.

Meanwhile, Pompey welcome back Richard Hughes and will be hoping new forward signing (and former Palace player) Ricardo Fuller is fit to play after turning out for Jamaica in midweek.

Don’t forget, if you can’t get to Fratton Park tomorrow you can still watch the match as it’s being shown live on Sky (5.15pm kick-off).
