Preston v Palace – Team news preview

Last updated : 31 January 2006 By Nik Taylor

Palace travel to Deepdale tonight for the second time in three days, hoping to improve on the 1-1 draw gained up there in the Cup on Saturday.

Both teams had decent chances to win that match, but a draw was arguably the right result. Tonight’s game is likely to be just as open.

Iain Dowie has a number of players available to him again for the clash. Michael Hughes is back after suspension, while Marco Reich recovered from injury sufficiently to come on from the subs bench on Saturday.

Preston bought Southampton’s Brett Ormerod at the weekend, and the striker is set to make his debut should he shake off a minor knock. Hopefully, he’ll put in as dodgy a performance as his swansong for the Saints against Palace last week.

Preston boss Billy Davies has Paul McKenna and David Nugent back from suspension while Brian Stock and Simon Whaley should also be back after being cup-tied.
