Reich aims for Selhurst stay

Marco Reich is hoping to capitalise on the impressive start he’s made to his Palace career by securing a long-term contract.

The German midfielder was without a club when Iain Dowie offered to take him on until January – and the 27-year old has proven an instant fans’ favourite.

Reich has hit three spectacular goals in four games and looks to be the solution to the left-wing position that has never been properly filled since the departure of Julian Gray.

"The club has given me a chance and I hope to show what I am capable of and earn a long-term deal," said Reich.

"I wanted to go home to Kaiserslautern but the manager changed and the new one didn't want me.

"I didn't want to go to any club, I wanted to join a good team like Palace."

Dowie seems just as keen to keep the German star, hinting that a full contract could soon be on the table.

"Marco is a great player," said Dowie after Monday’s win over Q.P.R.

"If he continues to play as he is doing, I'm sure he will earn a long and fruitful stay here. He is going to get better with every game."
