Reich set for Selhurst stay

Marco Reich is set to sign a new contract with Palace, and could put pen to paper as early as next week according to boss Iain Dowie.

Reich has impressed hugely since his arrival as a free agent at Selhurst Park last month, and his four goals from midfield included Tuesday night’s winner against Liverpool.

Understandably, Dowie is keen to secure the player on a contract longer than the current one – which expires in January.

"We like him and I think he's enjoying it here so I think it will be sorted out in the next week or so," Dowie told Clubcall.

"I've passed it to Bob [Dowie] and the chairman to sort out."

Reich is equally keen to extend his stay in SE25, and is looking forward to playing a big part in Palace’s promotion push.

"I have already said I want to stay here. If the time is right, we will find a decision, but I really like it here. I have said that all along," he said.

"I had been looking for a club for four months, and am now here at Palace, where we have had such an amazing run.

"I have come into a new team, signed a three-month deal - so it was a big risk for me. It could have happened that I did not settle and was not the same player.

"But I have played eight games now, scored four goals and had some assists as well, so for me, it is just such an amazing start."
