Rotherham v Palace – Match postponed

Last updated : 02 March 2004 By Nik Taylor

Tonight’s game against Rotherham has been postponed due to a frozen pitch.

Officials had hoped the pitch would thaw in time for kick-off tonight. However, despite bright sunshine this morning referee Howard Webb decided to call off the match before Palace fans started to make the journey north.

The postponement will suit the Millers more than it suits Palace. Rotherham are in the midst of an injury crisis, and will be hoping some of their first-team will be fit again by the time the match is played. But Palace fans will surely be disappointed we can’t play tonight, as a win may well have boosted us into the play-off spots.

There’s no word yet as to when the match will now be played. Neither Palace nor Rotherham have any spare Saturdays between now and the end of the season, so it will definitely remain a midweek game. The most likely call at the moment looks to be Tuesday 23rd March.
