Roy Hodgson expected to leave Crystal Palace this summer

Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson is expected to leave the club at the end of the season after they decided against offering him a new deal.

The veteran boss has stabilised the Eagles since being appointed in September 2017, mitigating the damage done by Frank de Boer's short yet disastrous reign. Having led Palace to survival in his first campaign at the helm, he's managed to keep up their status as a Premier League side and has done so again this season.

Hodgson's current contract expires this summer and he's continued to rebuff any questions regarding whether he will be at Selhurst Park next season, and The Times now report that he won't be offered a new deal.

Speculation surrounding who could replace the former England boss has circulated for some time, with former Chelsea boss Frank Lampard one of the names previously reported to be in the frame.

However, the report adds that Lampard is not under consideration for the role, and a shortlist of potential replacements has already been drawn up.

90min exclusively revealed recently that Burnley boss Sean Dyche is the leading candidate for the role, though it remains to be seen whether the Palace hierarchy will make a move for the Clarets boss.

The other names said to be in the mix are Barnsley boss Valerien Ismael - although the Tykes have already issued a hands-off warning to Palace - and Swansea manager Steve Cooper

Regardless of who takes over at Selhurst Park, Hodgson will no doubt leave Palace with the respect of the fans if this is to be his final season.

With a limited number of fans expected to be allowed to attend each Premier League team's final home game of the campaign, Eagles fans will be able to attend their side's clash with Arsenal next Wednesday affording them the chance to give Hodgson a fitting send-off.
