Rumour and hearsay surround Dowie move

Surprise, surprise…the media has started to crank out the old ‘Dowie on his way out’ stories, following Kevin Keegan’s departure from Manchester City.

We’ve had to put up with this ever since Dowie dragged our team of under-performers from relegation trouble to promotion last season.

And, according to several newspapers and web sites, the Palace boss is once again on the brink of leaving SE25 – this time for City – though not one of them can point to a single shred of evidence.

Most seem content to rely on the rumour that Dowie and Jordan don’t get on – despite the continued statements from each that this is not an issue.

With the manager’s signature on his four-year contract barely dry, a departure would be premature to say the least. It would also make it extremely costly for any team trying to tempt him away from Selhurst.

However, with the Palace boss one of the hottest properties in English football at the current time, it looks as those we’ll have to put up with these unsubstantiated rumours for some time to come.
