Rumour round up: Dowie linked with Borrowdale

Last updated : 04 June 2007 By Nik Taylor
Latest rumours: Derby have dropped out of the race to sign Jobi McAnuff, after Rams boss Billy Davies decided against finalising the transfer. Watford are still interested at a price of around £1m.

Iain Dowie is keen to lure Gary Borrowdale to Coventry, with the left-back still holding out on signing a new Palace contract.

Which could make Peter Taylor even more keen to complete the signing of left-back Jeff Hughes from Lincoln. The 22-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to Selhurst. He can also play on the left of midfield and would cost around £500,000.

Dougie Freedman has still not agreed a new contract with Palace and Carlisle have emerged as surprise contenders for his signature.

Still bubbling under: Southend and Gillingham have emerged as the main contenders for the signing of released Palace midfielder Tommy Black.

Teddy Sheringham remains a target for Peter Taylor, with a player/coach deal mooted for the veteran striker.

Off the boil: Palace have denied any interest in out-of-contract Millwall midfielder Marvin Elliott.

Done deals: Palace have released four out-of-contract players. Gabor Kiraly, Michael Hughes, Tommy Black and Danny Granville have all left the club. Youngster Phil Starkey is also free to leave. However, Peter Taylor says he is not expecting to make many further changes to the squad over the summer.

Gabor Kiraly has signed a two-year deal at Burnley following his departure from Palace.
