Rumour Round-Up

The end of Euro 2004 has seen a surge in transfer activity as the European clubs get back to preparing for next season. With Palace fans still awaiting the first confirmed signing of the close season, a slew of players have been connected with moves to Selhurst Park – most of them strikers.
So, here we go with a round-up of some of the more believable rumours (as well as a couple of pie-in-the-sky ones!).

Hungarian goalkeeper Gabor Kiraly will be announced as Palace’s first signing before the end of the week. (various sources)

Dowie is interested in bringing West Ham United striker Marlon Harewood to SE25. The striker is also a target for Norwich, Leicester City and Leeds. (source: Nottingham Evening Post)

Hungarian international striker Sandor Torghelle (who scored twice for the Hungarians in their 2-0 pre-Euro 2004 win over Germany) is on the verge of signing for the Eagles. (source: Nemzeti Sport Online)

German striker Marco Vorbeck is attracting the interest of Iain Dowie (source: The Times)

Palace could offer former-Arsenal player Jay Boothroyd a return to the Premiership, after the striker fell out of favour at Perugia (SkySports)

And yet another striker to be linked with a move to the Palace is James Scowcroft, with Dowie ready to hand over £500,000 for the Leicester forward. (source: The People)

Norweigan midfielder Eirik Bakke is wanted by Palace, but would cost a hefty £1.5 million. (source: News of the World)
