Rumour round-up: Jobi on his way?

Last updated : 29 May 2007 By Nik Taylor
Latest rumours: Watford are strongly linked with making a renewed bid for Jobi McAnuff, after having a previous offer snubbed last season. A cut-price deal of £500,000 is being bandied about for the winger, who has just one year left on his contract. Derby are also believed to be keen on McAnuff following their promotion to the Premiership.

Millwall midfielder Marvin Elliott will be out of contract this summer and has yet to sign a new one with the Lions. Rumour has it Palace boss Peter Taylor is an admirer.

Taylor also fancies bringing 41-year-old Teddy Sheringham to the club. The former England striker is out of contract and would be joining his son, Charlie, at Palace. However, Taylor warns the deal is dependent on other players moving on.

Still bubbling under: Southend and Gillingham have emerged as the main contenders for the signing of released Palace midfielder Tommy Black.

No longer happening: Dougie Freedman will hold out for a new deal at Palace after turning down the chance of a big pay-day in Brunei. The striker was offered a £1 million deal to make the switch, but has his heart set on staying with the Eagles.

Palace have lost out in the chase for long-term target Tony Capaldi. The Plymouth defender has been signed up instead by Cardiff.

Done deals: Palace have released four out-of-contract players. Gabor Kiraly, Michael Hughes, Tommy Black and Danny Granville have all left the club. However, Peter Taylor says he is not expecting to make too many changes to the squad over the summer.
