Sheff Weds v Palace – Team news preview

Last updated : 10 February 2006 By Nik Taylor

Iain Dowie takes Palace to Hillsborough tomorrow looking to build on the away form that has seen the Eagles take 10 points from the last possible 15 on the road.

Aki Riihilahti announced his return to full fitness with the winning goal against Cardiff last Saturday, but a couple of other players will be missing.

Fitz Hall continues his three-match ban after his late sending off against the Bluebirds, while Tony Popovic is still ruled out with a back injury.

However, Mikele Leigertwood will return to the sqaud after missing the midweek Cup defeat through suspension. Michael Hughes should also return after being rested during the week.

Wednesday have lost their first choice keeper, David Lucas, to injury for the rest of the season. Chris Adamson will play in his place. Midfield regular Glenn Whelan is banned but defender Graham Coughlan could make his return from a knock.

The Owls are enjoying a slight resurgence after enduring a torrid end to 2005 where they lost seven and drew two of their final 10 games of the year. However, this is a game Palace have to win if they’re to stand any chance of taking advantage of second-placed Sheffield United’s erratic current form.

Probable Palace XI:

Kiraly
Leigertwood Hudson Ward Boyce
McAnuff Hughes Riihilahti Reich
Johnson Freedman
