Sheffield United v Palace – Team news preview

Last updated : 06 February 2004 By Nik Taylor

Palace have no fresh injury concerns ahead of the trip to high-flying Sheffield United. Iain Dowie is likely to keep faith with the side that overwhelmed Wimbeldon last week, although new signing Mikele Leigertwood goes straight into the first team squad.

Jamie Smith is also back in contention after completing his three-match suspension. The defender had a run-out for the reserves in mid-week, but is likely to find himself starting from the bench tomorrow. Darren Powell has now resumed training after a lengthy lay-off, but this game comes too soon for him to return to the side.

The Blades are sweating on the return of Peter Ndlovu, who is struggling to get a flight home from the African Cup of Nations. Ashley Ward and Chris Morgan are the other notable absentees for the Blades.

Palace go into the match looking to set a club record of five straight away wins. If they can pull off this feat, the Eagles will be no more than four points from a play-off place.
