Shefki stays, says Taylor

Palace boss Peter Taylor has stamped down on speculation linking striker Shefki Kuqi with a move away from Selhurst Park.

Kuqi had a torrid first season for the Eagles and started this season's opener against Southampton on the bench, leading to rumours that he was on the verge of signing for former club Ipswich.

However, Taylor has made it clear that he expects Kuqi to stay and make a major contribution to the team this season.

"Shefki's a very important player and even though he didn't start on Saturday, there's no doubt he'll be starting plenty of times this season," he told the South London Press.

"He's out to prove people wrong as well and I want him to stay.

"He came on against Southampton for the last half an hour and showed a tremendous attitude."
