Crystal Palace have given Charlie Sheringham a two-year contract after the striker impressed while on trial with the club.

The 18-year-old son of Teddy Sheringham has played throughout Palace's pre-season campaign and will give Peter Taylor another option up front.

Palace director of football Bob Dowie said: "Charlie joined on a week-to-week trial at first but he has impressed us so much we are giving him a couple of years."
