Silence of the Blades. Late drama at Bramall Lane

Neil Warnock returned to his old club and had the last laugh as he watched Carle silence the home fans who thought the three points were in the bag.

Utd had taken a 1st half lead when Nathan Dyer capitalised on poor defending from Fonte. Dyer made no mistake when through one on one with Speroni.

Palace came back and levelled in the second half from Paddy McCarthy. As the game pushed on Utd won a penalty that was converted by James Beattie. That was in the 88th minute and looked to be the winning goal but Palace never game up and as they threw everyone forward for one last effort before the final whistle the ball broke for Carle to score past a flat-footed Paddy Kenny to make it 2 - 2.

Absolute quality drama. There was a change of emotion on the bench as Blackwell's heart sank, Warnock was bouncing like a baby.

Palace now welcome Norwich to Selhurst Park for a 1pm kick off on Boxing Day.
