Soares staying says Taylor

Palace boss Peter Taylor has dismissed reports that Tom Soares is on his way out of Selhurst Park, but says the midfielder must step up his performances to win back his place in the side.

There have been rumours that Soares has handed in a transfer request after being left out of the starting line-up for the last three matches, but Taylor has flatly denied Soares is going anywhere.

"I'm staggered at the reports, because it's absolute rubbish. I don't know where these stories come from,” Taylor told the Croydon Advertiser.

"Tom's been left out because he's a much better player than he's been showing in recent weeks. But he's a great lad, and has in no way ever considered handing in a transfer request.

"He's understood my decision, and is getting on with it. He's been working very hard in training to get back into the team.”
