Songo'o ready to fight for place

On loan midfielder Franck Songo'o is determined to fight for a place in the Palace starting line-up, says boss Neil Warnock.

Songo'o looked to be on his way out of Selhurst Park after Warnock revealed he would not be looking to extend the Frenchman's loan deal from Portsmouth.

However, Songo'o has pleaded for another chance and his performances for the reserves have impressed Warnock enough that he earned a place in the team that drew with West Brom on Saturday.

"I saw him in the reserves last week and it was time to give him another chance," said Warnock.

"I told him he could go back to Portsmouth but he came and asked me if he could fight for his place and show what he can do.

"And he's done that today. He was part of a team, was no frills but he's done what I expect players like him to do."
