Speroni playing for keeps

Forgotten man Julian Speroni is aiming to cement his place in the starting line-up after playing for the first time this season last Saturday.

The Argentinian has barely featured for Palace after some error-strewn performances in the first few matches of the 2004/5 Premiership season.

But he was picked ahead of 20-year-old Scott Flinders for the 1-0 defeat at
Derby, with first-choice keeper Gabor Kiraly seemingly on his way out of the club.

Now he wants to ensure he gets the chance to show Peter Taylor what he can do.

Speroni told the South London Press: "Every player wants to play every game, but I have not been able to do that since I have been here.

"I have one more season on my contract after this. I am quite happy to stay here and make a name for myself.

"I need to do that by playing as many games as I can."
