Spurs want Routledge on the cheap

Tottenham Hotspur confirmed yesterday they have made a paltry £1.5 million offer to Palace for Wayne Routledge.

The winger, who Spurs offered £3m for last August, is out of contract in the summer and is determined to move on from Selhurst Park.

But the bid seems unlikely to tempt Iain Dowie to sell, with the Palace boss confident he can get a similar amount for the player from a transfer tribunal in the summer.

"We have put an offer in," confirmed Spurs boss Martin Jol. "He's a very young, talented player."

Yes he is, Mr. Jol. That's why you'll have to dig deeper in your pockets if you want to buy him.
