Stoke v Palace – Team news preview

Last updated : 13 March 2006 By Nik Taylor

Iain Dowie receives a boost ahead of tonight’s trip to the Britannia Stadium with the news that Dougie Freedman and Marco Reich are both fit again and available for selection.

Ben Watson has also shaken off a slight injury picked up during the home defeat to Leeds and is fit to play.

With no other new injuries, that should enable Dowie to field a near full-strength sqaud.

None of the sides above Palace in the Championship table won at the weekend - and with games in hand on most teams around us, tonight's game gives the Eagles a real chance to get a firm foothold in the play-off spots.

Defenders Danny Granville and Danny Butterfield have both been long-term residents of the physio’s room this season, but both are heading towards fitness again, with Granville having played in the last two reserve team games.

The pair may yet be able to play a part in the final few games of the season, though tonight’s game comes too soon for either of them.

Stoke welcome back Hannes Sigurdsson, Peter Sweeney, Mamady Sidibe from injury.

The match is being shown live on Sky Sports 1 tonight, with kick-off at 7.45pm.
