Sunderland game postponed

Palace’s home match against Sunderland has been postponed, following the Mackems’ progression to the semi-finals of the F.A. Cup.

The game was to take place on Saturday 3rd April at Selhurst Park. However, Sunderland will now be playing either Millwall or Tranmere on that weekend for a place in the F.A. Cup Final.

The match is yet to be rearranged – but there is one fact that will surely strike fear into the heart of any Palace fan. The game will now be a home midweek fixture!

Such matches have been the stuff of nightmares for more than two years at Selhurst Park. That’s because the Eagles have not won a midweek fixture at home in the league since 16th January 2002. Since then we’ve played 18 league matches at Selhurst during the week. Of those, seven have been drawn and a dismal 11 lost! That’s a meagre collection of just seven points from a potential 54. Here’s hoping we can break the hoodoo against a Sunderland side facing a huge fixture backlog.

Fortunately, our midweek away form isn’t nearly so bad, which is good news for all those travelling up to Rotherham. The game against the Millers was postponed last week because of frost, but a new date has now been announced.

As expected, Palace will travel to Millmoor on Tuesday 23rd March for a 7.45pm kick-off. All the tickets from the original fixture will be valid, and there are plenty more still available from the box-office.
