Peter Taylor is expected to make two more additions to his squad this week with the loan signings of Andy O'Brien and former Eagle Julian Gray.
Despite the transfer window closing last week, Football League clubs can still make loan signings and it is likely the pair will join with a view to making the deals permanent in January.
Both players were close to joining the Eagles last week, but the deals could not be pushed through before the window shut.
The arrival of the pair would give Palace some much-needed strength in depth. Portsmouth's O'Brien plays at centre-back and would compete with Mark Hudson for the spot alongside Leon Cort, while Birmingham's Gray can play at left-back as well as his more usual position of left-wing.
That could free up Jobi McAnuff to play in a more natural right-wing role and would give Palace some awesome pace on either wing. However, some grudge-bearing fans may find the arrival of Gray difficult to take after his acrimonious departure from the club two years ago.
