Taylor hails Palace spirit

Palace boss Peter Taylor paid tribute to his squad's spirit after they rescued a last-minute point at home to Leicester on Saturday, but admitted the performance had not been up to par.

The Eagles took a first-half lead through Stuart Green's smartly taken free kick, but were pegged back in the second-half and had to rely on an injury-time goal from Clinton Morrison to salvage a draw.

"I don't think we played anywhere near as well as we did last Saturday at Southampton, or even as we did on Tuesday night when we played some nice football and created chances," Taylor said.

"Today wasn't a particularly good performance on the ball, but the togetherness and spirit was excellent after we were hit with two corners, which was disappointing for us.

"I'm sure Martin [Allen] is delighted that they were well worked but for us, they were poor goals because the same player got away from the same person twice, but we kept going and I'm delighted for Clinton to have got another goal."
