Taylor looks to Lennon

Palace boss Peter Taylor is hoping to lure veteran midfielder Neil Lennon to Selhurst Park with the promise of a player/coach role.

The 34-year-old is out of contract with Celtic this summer and is reportedly unhappy with the new deal offered to him by the Scottish champions.

Taylor managed Lennon during his Leicester City days, and the new Palace manager is keen to make the former Northern Ireland international his first signing.

Taylor told the Daily Record: "I always regretted having to sell 'Lenny' to Celtic six years ago. I have such a lot of respect for him and I'm very interested in him."

However, Celtic boss Gordon Strachan believes Lennon will be staying at Parkhead.

"There's no problem," said Strachan. "We'll see Neil on Friday and I'm sure we'll get everything sorted out then."
