Taylor quits England role

Peter Taylor has stepped down from his role as coach of the England Under-21 side.

The Palace boss had been taking a break from his England duties, after seeing the Eagles results dip alarmingly whenever he was away with the national side.

But he has now decided to call it quits on his part-time role so he can concentrate fully on the remainder of the Championship campaign.

"I can't do it anymore and devote my time to helping the team ahead of June's European Under-21 Championship in Holland," Taylor told BBC Sport.

"Anybody coming in would have to commit a lot to the job. I'm sad but I've had a great time with England.

"I'm proud of having seen some players go on to the senior squad."
