Arsenal starlet Ryan Smith could be on his way to Selhurst Park on a season-long loan deal. The 18-year-old can play up front or on the left-wing, and is looking for first-team opportunities as he tries to force his way back from a succession of injuries.

Gonzalo Sorondo hasn’t yet returned to Inter Milan, despite coming to the end of his one-year loan deal. But the Uruguayan defender looks unlikely to be wearing the red-and-blue shirt come next season. In fact, Sorondo may find his way to The Valley to hook up with Charlton. "He is seeking Premiership football and has not shown an appetite to re-sign with us, despite our best endeavours," said Bob Dowie, Palace’s director of football.

Fellow Inter import Nicola Ventola could be staying at Palace, however. Ventola, who missed the bulk of last season through serious injury, will be offered a pay-as-you-play deal.

Palace have three more out-of-contract players – Dougie Freedman, Danny Granville and Darren Powell – and all of them will be offered new deals. Bob Dowie said: "We are trying to retain everybody."

According to The Independent, centre-back Fitz Hall is now a target for newly-promoted Wigan.
