Turner previously coached at Southend for eight years, where new Eagles boss Freedman ended his playing career.
"It's terrfific, I've settled in fine, the club's been very welcoming and I feel like I've hit the ground running," said Turner.
"Dougie's professionalism was fantastic at Southend and that's always been the way. He will be a bright, up-and-coming manager for sure."
