Update on Roy Hodgson's Crystal Palace Future Amid Exit Rumours

Roy Hodgson's job as Crystal Palace manager is safe until the end of the season, despite the Eagles' worrying run of form.

After a solid start to the campaign Palace have not won since beating West Ham 2-1 on Boxing Day. It is a slide that has left them in 14th place in the Premier League table, just six points clear of safety.

Despite this, the Sun have reported that chairman Steve Parish is keen to give Hodgson time to turn things around and the 72-year-old is not expected to be relieved of his duties before the end of the season.

Hodgson is in the final five months of his contract and despite informal discussions over a new deal, an agreement has not yet been reached.

The Eagles boss is said to want assurances over a greater level of investment in the playing squad after becoming frustrated with the lack of new arrivals at Selhurst Park this season.

Since Wall Street financiers Josh Harris and David Blitzer purchased a £100m stake in the club back in December 2015, Palace's transfer outlay has been relatively modest compared with other Premier League sides - particularly in recent years.

Harris and Blitzer put the club up for sale in March 2019 but reluctantly remain in charge due to a lack of interested buyers.

In the summer, the Eagles only signed Jordan Ayew and James McCarthy for a combined fee of £5m. Hodgson was keen on bolstering his option last month as well but deals for Hull City's Jarrod Bowen and West Brom's Nathan Ferguson both fell through.

They did manage to secure a loan deal for Everton outcast Cenk Tosun in an attempt to arrest their goal-shyness. Palace are the lowest scorers in the division having managed just 23 goals from 26 Premier League games this season.
