Watson: Time to put the blip behind us

Midfielder Ben Watson believes the six-game winless streak that came to an end at Preston on Saturday was a blip, and that Palace can now push on to claim a play-off place.

Writing on his diary on Icons.com, Watson says he's disappointed with the lost points during February but that the prospect of pushing back into the play-off spots is driving the team.

"It's a shame we've had a bit of a poor run because if we'd picked up a few more points over those last half-dozen matches we would be right up there in the mix at the moment," says Watson.

"But we have been lucky other results have gone our way. If we were going to go off the boil it wasn't the worse time for it to happen.

"We now have to prove the last month has been nothing more than a blip. It starts with Cardiff tonight.

"Cardiff will still believe there is something to play for and think they have a chance for a play-off spot, so they won't be giving an inch. But we know a win will put us right on the tail of the play-off positions. That's a big incentive."
