Wayne stays with Palace for now

Palace are adamant no transfer has yet been agreed for Wayne Routledge to move to Spurs.

Tottenham had two bids for the 20-year-old turned down last season, and it was believed they would finally get their man next month when Routledge’s contract runs out.

As the winger is too young to move on a Bosman free, Palace were expected to receive a compensation payment of around £2m from Spurs.

But Palace have flatly denied any deal has been struck. In a statement, the club said: "Crystal Palace Football Club would like to deny newspaper speculation that has reported the transfer of Wayne Routledge."

"Wayne was reported to have joined Tottenham Hotspur for £2million in the media, but we can confirm that he has not joined the north-London club and is still with Crystal Palace."
