Wolves v Palace – Team news preview

Last updated : 08 August 2005 By Nik Taylor

After failing dismally against one of this season’s Championship new boys at the weekend, Palace now have to face one of the favourites for the title.

Wolves ended last season on a blistering run that saw them almost sneak a play-off place at the death. They’re expected to do better than that this season and started the campaign well with a solid point away at Southampton.

Palace boss Iain Dowie may be able to welcome back Dougie Freedman to the squad after the striker missed Saturday’s opener with a hamstring injury. Aki Riihilahti may recover to also rejoin the team, but Danny Granville is expected to miss out again.

Wolves boss Glenn Hoddle will likely rest veteran midfielder Paul Ince after the 37-year-old played the full 90 minutes against Saints despite having only just returned from a knee injury.

Hoddle will also be missing Jody Craddock, Matt Murray and Mark Clyde.

Probable Palace XI:

Kiraly
Boyce Ward Hall Borrowdale
McAnuff Hughes Watson Soares
Macken Johnson
