Ade Akibbiyi has left Palace and signed for Stoke City on a permanent basis. He enjoyed a loan spell at the Potteries at the end of last season, and joins Stoke for an undisclosed fee. Akinbiyi cost Palace £2.2 million, but a series of injuries restricted his appearances. He was bought by former manager Trevor Francis, but was told by current boss Steve Kember that he had no future at Palace. His departure will ease the wage bill at Palace and possibly allow Kember to strengthen the squad.
No doubt Akinbiyi will become the latest in a long line of former Palace players to score against us.
