A Dougie Freedman brace sealed Palace reserves’ first victory of the season, at Ipswich Town.

The Eagles faced a strong Ipswich side, with Shefki Kuqi and Pablo Counago starting up front for Town.

Palace also opted for an experienced line-up – with Tommy Black and Shaun Derry both in the team. Also included was Ecuadorian trialist Ivan Kaviedes, who partnered Freedman up front.

And Palace were in front after only six minutes when the Doog lashed home a shot off the post. Ipswich levelled shortly afterwards, and despite numerous chances it looked like the game would end in a draw.

However, Freedman bagged all three points for Palace in the 83rd minute with his second goal of the game.

Palace: Wilkinson, Wilson, Simpson (Williams 65), Togwell, El-Salahi (Conroy 18), Black, Derry (Berry h-t), Watson, Soares, Freedman, Kaviedes
