Palace started the brighter of the two sides when a shot by Hayden Mullins was blocked after eight minutes.

Two minutes later Dele Adebola followed up with a shot but it was stopped by Forest keeper Darren Ward.

David Prutton dispossessed Mullins after 13 minutes who then passed an inch perfect pass to Marlon Harewood, who blasted the ball goalwards but Nick Michopoulos was there to make the save.

Lack of communication between the Palace defence allowed David Johnson a chance on goal but the ball screamed over the post.

In the 33rd minute Des Walker brought down Palace's Andrew Johnson just outside the box. Julian Gray stepped up to take the best chance of the game so far but put the ball straight over the bar.

Just before the break Forests Ricardo Scimeca took a right footed shot from 10 yards out which looked to be travelling into the top right hand corner, but once again Michopoulos was there to save the day.

After the break Forest came out fighting when a shot by Eoin Jess was deflected. They kept up the pressure and after 53 minutes Jack Lester had a goal disallowed for offside.

Two minutes later Johnson was back on the ball and struck a low shot from ten yards out. Michopoulos parried the ball and Jess looked to be about to give Forest the points, only for the Greek keeper to save Palace again.

It wasn't long before the Eagles stepped up the pressure and a chance went begging for Sean Derry who shot the ball well over the post.

Both teams tried in vain to take all three points but had to be satisfied with a point each.
