Crystal Palace 1 - 1 Coventry City

I am not a great keeper of statistics, but, if I was, I would be able to tell you just how many points Palace have thrown away by conceding goals in the last five minutes of a match. The latest episode was on Saturday when City's Tottenham loanee Johnnie Jackson thumped home from 6 yards in the second minute of injury time. Palace had started the match full of confidence following the midweek win at Stoke, passing the ball around neatly and precicely in the difficult conditions. Rob Edwards gave Palace the lead in the 9th minute, heading home Tommy Black's left wing corner. Palace continued to dominate the first period and could easily have had 5 or 6 by half time, with Freedman, Black and Derry all guilty of spurning reasonable chances.
The second period was a complete reversal of the first. This time it was Coventry who bossed the game, Palace seemingly content to sit back and soak up all that the visitors could throw at them. Even so, Palace still had enough chances to put the match out of sight, but Freedman and Black again missed. Just as time was running out and it seemed that Palace had clung on for a point up popped Jackson with the equaliser. In truth a game of two halves which neither side deserved to win or lose. Palace lost Andy Johnson to a leg injury in the first period and initial prognosis indicates that he will be out for a week.
