Crystal Palace 1 - 3 Crewe Alexandra

Palace dropped into the bottom three after a truly awful display against Crewe. Alex, who had won only one away game in their last 9, and scored only 5 goals in their last 10 won at a canter. In an embarrasingly one sided first half, Alex were 2 up after only 15 minutes through Dean Ashton and Luke Varney. In this period Palace managed just one attempt on target, and that was a 25 yarder which would not have troubled a 70 year old grandmother. Palace were not much better after the break either, although there were a few more chances created, but the front two of Freedman and Shipperley were just woeful. Danny Butterfield, who was the worst player on the pitch, gave Palace some hope with an angled drive after 78 minutes to halve the deficit, but it was no surprise when Ashton added a third for the visitors shortly afterwards. A truly awful display by a team which looked as if it did not want to know. Some of these players should take a long hard look at themselves.
