Millwall 1 -1 Crystal Palace

Tommy Black became the 5th Palace player to earn a red card this season when he was dismissed for a second cautionable offence at The New Den.
Palace went into the game missing Matt Clarke, Tony Popovic, Kit Symonds, Dougie Freedman and Neil Shipperley, so a point should be seen as a moral victory. However, as the game panned out we should have got all three points. Millwall were never really at the races until the last 10 minutes following the introduction of sub Bob Peeters. The big Dutchman powered a header past Cedric Berthelin in the fourth minute of injury time. Earlier local boy Ben Watson had smashed a free kick home following a foul to give Palace the lead. Millwall could have snatched the points at the death, but Berthelin produced two very good saves to deny Neil Harris and Peeters.
Palace manager Steve Kember was seething with referee Harold Webb. Kember said "There was nothing malicious in what Tommy did and some players seem to want to get an opponent sent off this season. He just seemed to run across the Millwall player, but that's Kevin Muscat for you".
