Palace wound up their pre season tour of the West Country and Wales with a win at the Vetch Field against Swansea on Friday night. Goals from Gareth Williams, who followed up a Steve Thomson shot that hit the bar, and a Danny Butterfield piledriver gave Palace a comfortable win. Dougie Freedman missed the game, having sustained a minor knock against Cheltenham in midweek. Palace were indebted to Matt Clarke for a couple of fine saves early on.
Meanwhile, on the injury front, it is pleasing to report that Julian Gray and Aki Riihilahti have both resumed training following injury, although neither were in the running for a start in tonight's game, as manager Trevor Francis reckoned that they were not fit enough for consideration yet. Both could be in contention for some action in Simon Rodger's testimonial match against Spurs at Selhurst on Wednesday 31st July.
